Home Visits in Midland Ontario Reflexology are for those who cannot access the stairs in our office, for seniors, or those in such pain that they cannot leave their homes, hospital beds, retirement home or convalescent home.
It is also available on weekends for those who cannot make the regular office hours for a relaxing or wellness session.
In home sessions are relaxing sessions that can help with people with poor circulation, assist with pain management, and help those who are unable to travel much out of their homes.
These can also provide those clients with an hour and a half of company. If the client isn't getting many visitors, they sometimes choose to chat, and our reflexologist is happy to listen or chat, if that's what the client desires.
It can provide the client with the opportunity to sleep, as reflexology can distract the brain from pain and stress in the body and help them to relax without discomfort. When a client falls asleep, the reflexologist completes the session and can leave quietly.
In home foot reflexology therapy also can provide the client with basic human touch, in the hour long session, when they might be lacking in this core human need.
What to Expect
Ideally, you'll need to provide a quiet or peaceful space for the session. The reflexologist can bring a reclining massage zero-gravity chair for the session, which supports the entire body. If the client is unable to leave their bed, the client helper or caregiver will need to be present to quietly observe the session and be available to assist should the client need readjustment for their comfort.
Ideally, the client will provide blankets, pillows, hand towels and socks. This is more important when the client is looking to sleep and not be disturbed at the end of the session. The reflexologist can provide towels and socks, but only if the client is to be woken at the end of the session.
The client may play their favourite music quietly, or the reflexologist can provide some soft and soothing classical music to play, if music is desired.
The reflexologist will start with filling out the necessary permission forms and health forms. If the client is unable to fill these out, the caregiver will need to have the ability to provide permission.
After the forms are complete, the therapist will prepare the feet by cleaning them with witch hazel and a cotton pad. Corn starch is used as a powder to absorb any oils during the session. If the client has any allergies to these items, or has reactions to natural products, alternatives can be used.
The foot massage is completed in about an hour. The practitioner will take notes about their findings, and at the end of the session can discuss them with the client or caregiver.
Reflexologists do not diagnose, treat or prescribe.
