I thought that I was immune to the illness that has been flying through our community, but alas, it got me. Today is day one of feeling better, after a week of wrestling with the respiratory THING that I caught. I'm still recovering faster that others that have had it. I have chatted with a lot of people who have said this cough has held onto them for weeks and weeks! Oh dear. Although I cancelled a bunch of reflexology appointments, and during the fever missed a bunch of calls, I still had to go to my part time job at the thrift store, as there was no one there to cover for me. I bought masks at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Hwy 93 in Midland. They sell them for 50 cents each, but I purchased a whole box! I figure, I'll be using them up with clients! If you are not feeling well, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to miss out on your reflexology appointment. I know, when I was sick, it was most comforting to have someone close by. So, if you are past the fever stage, but still suffering from the cough or sore throat, we can always mask you up. For me, this thing started as a twitch in the lungs. It moved into a fever, then dry cough. A general feeling of lethargy set in while my body fought it. I ate a lot of garlic, took a lot of hot baths with epsom salt, and sipped a lot of Tumeric and Ginger tea. Although I rarely take medication, I bought some over the counter day time/night time combo for cold and flu. I only needed half the dose to get some relief, though. If you are experiencing this respiratory thing going around, Reflexology can help you feel better, and can also help by encouraging lymph to move through your system, and give you a circulation boost. I also diffuse Eucalyptus essential oil during our session, to help kill airborne germs and soothe the cough. Now that I'm through it, I'm back to taking bookings. If you are working your way through this illness, I hope you feel better soon! Lori

It's almost 2018, and even if you've sworn off making new years resolutions, it's still a perfect time of year to focus on wellness!
Whether your wellness plans include getting more active, going to the gym, taking up a new sport or an old beloved one, any new activity is going to cause stress in your body. Some of it is delightful stress, it feels good to move and stretch! But so often, we forget how hard our feet are working to get the rest of our bodies moving and in good health. Reflexology is not just an hour long foot massage (although it does feel very very good on tired feet!) We pin point cramps or tense spots and massage the stress away, while hitting pressure points on your feet that encourage the rest of your body to relax and heal itself. Reflexology is also a healing modality that works with all other things you might be doing for your new years wellness plan - RMT Massage (Registered Massage Therapy) , Chiropractic work for pain, acupuncture (traditional Chinese acupuncture or medical acupuncture.), Yoga, float tank therapies, and Naturopath therapies. Reflexology is also a great way to reduce the stress of so much snow shovelling, and also the mental stress of getting over the holidays, and can help with Seasonal Affective Disorder or depression, through healing touch and connection.
